5 Steps to Getting Organized Before You Start Writing
Coach Jaime, I am stuck and I don’t know where to start. Coach Jaime, I am confused about what to write. Coach Jaime, I know what I want to write, but I can’t seem to get my thougts to flow. Does that sound like you? If so, you are probably having issues with getting organized before you start your book writing.
It is very common for writers to seem extremely unorganized when starting to write their book. Why wouldn’t you be? You have all of these thoughts in your head, just dying to come out. Well, let me help you, with 5 steps to getting organize, BEFORE you start writing.
Pray and ask God to reveal, what is is you should be writing about. If you are in tune to His leading, he will reveal to you. Remember, He tells us to write the vision and make it plain. He has given you the vision, so He will make the provision.
2. Keep a Notebook or Journal with you at ALL times
Keep a notebook or journal with you at all times, and write down your thoughts relative to your book. They may seem scattered, but, eventually, you will be able to make some sense out of it all.
3. Determine WHY you want to write your book.
This may seem easy, but often times, our WHY doesn’t line up with our what. And therein lies the problem. For example, if you desire to write a book, because everyone else is doing it, chances are you are going to try to write your book, like everyone else is writing their book, and that just won’t work for you.
4. Go to your quiet space
Everyone has that place, where there is a sense of peace. I know, for me, my quiet space is in my bedroom. I love writing in my bedroom, when I need complete quiet. Of course, it is when my husband is not at home! 🙂
5. Get a book writing coach
If you are really stuck, don’t stay “stuck on stupid.” Get some help! You may need the guidance of a book writing coach to help you to jumpstart your book writing in the “write” direction. Schedule your book writing strategy session and let’s work together to bring your vision to life!
